Job Role - Link Good Neighbour Companion Driver

Main Duties

To carry out tasks which could be expected of a good neighbour, at the request of the Co-ordinator. These requests will take into account your availability and the services you are prepared to offer according to your application form.

Examples of Jobs you may be asked to do:

Our Companion Drivers might be asked to take a client for a medical appointment, or to a social club or exercise class. You might take somebody shopping or to visit a friend or relative in hospital. 

You will NOT be asked to carry out any Social or medical care - just to act as a Good Neighbour!

You will also NOT be expected to do any manual lifting (apart from the odd shopping bag) or push a wheelchair.  We are only able to take clients who can get themselves into and out of a vehicle on their own.

Some of our clients will have visual impairments, and may have hearing or memory difficulties. If you don't feel able to help them you  can always say no.

You will be expected to:

Understand and operate according to the Link Mission Statement

Maintain client confidentiality at all times

Wear your Link identity badge

Hand donation envelopes to clients

Return donation envelopes as agreed

Submit expense claims regularly

Advise the Co-ordinator of dates when you are not available

Refer clients needing further help back to the Co-ordinator

Report any concerns about the client to the Co-ordinator

Protect your own privacy by not disclosing your telephone number to clients unless previously agreed with the Co-ordinator

Be aware of health and safety in respect of both yourself and the client

Be familiar with Link Scheme policies issued to you

Undertake an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check

Undertake training if appropriate.

Display the Hospital Parking Card when appropriate
