WHAT IS LINK 6 & RWB?
Link 6 & RWB is a GOOD NEIGHBOUR SCHEME for people who need a little help from time to time.
We operate in the Royal Wootton Bassett, Lyneham, Bradenstoke, Clyffe Pypard, Bushton, Tockenham and Broad Town area.
The sort of things we can do include driving to and from hospital appointments, hairdresser, or shopping.
We can also take you for a walk, come and have a chat or read to you, maybe change a light bulb or sew a hem. There is no predefined list; if you have a need, we will see what we can do to help.
We also run occasional SOCIAL EVENTS such as our Summer garden party.
Our aim is to complement other services already inexistence, such as Connect and Social services, your family and friends.
We are able to help with occasional trips for hospital appointments but regret that we cannot provide transport for prolonged courses of hospital treatment e.g. radiotherapy.
WHO CAN USE LINK 6 & RWB?
Anybody who has a need can request our service - there is no age limit; we will however undertake a basic assessment of need. Sometimes the need is temporary , e.g. if you have broken your arm and cannot drive, we may be able to help for a few days until you get a more permanent arrangement in place. We are all DBS (CRB) checked so we can work with old and young alike.
We are only allowed to pick up clients from the areas shown at the top of the page. If you live outside this area, there may be another Link scheme which covers where you live. To find a full list of these, click here.
We are only able to transport clients who are mobile as we are not trained to work with manual lifting or wheelchairs.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Link 6 & RWB receives core funding to enable the service to exist, but that is not enough to pay for everything. We invite people who use the service to make a voluntary donation via a brown envelope. You pay what you can afford, or what you think the service is worth.
For longer journeys it would be helpful if the donation covered the expenses we pay to our volunteer drivers.
HOW DO I USE LINK 6 & RWB?
You call our phone line 07879 394666
between the hours of 10.00 am and4.00 pm. You may get the answerphone as we do not permanently man the phone. We would ask for 48 hours’ notice at least, as we need to try to match a volunteer to your request. We cannot guarantee that we will always be able to assist, but we will do our level best.
I WOULD LIKE TO HELP – WHAT DO I DO NEXT?
We are looking for committee members (not a very arduous task) and also volunteers. Volunteers can specify how much (or little) time they have available to help and will have to undergo a CRB check. You don’t have to be a car driver to be a volunteer, but if you do have a car and a clean driving licence, we would love to hear from you. Potential volunteers should contact Allison Bucknell on 01793 854421 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org
